They Call Her Blessed!

Enjoy the e-gallery of Betty Slade and her paintings of the "Women of the Wind Series". This collection of paintings are the impressionist Southwest women seen through the eyes of Proverbs. Also there will be added southwest landscapes and adobes.

Dedicated to My Son Stephen,
A Leader of men, a server of tables, and full of the Holy Spirit. My charge to you is that you lead with wisdom, serve with kindness and walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
Then you will complete your name, Stephenos, a crowning glory.

My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother -- for they will be an ornament of grace on your head, and chains about your neck.

Proverbs 1:8,9

Many of the Proverbs and Wisdom have been written in the female voice. This is wisdom that King Solomon acquired sitting at the feet of his mother. Her endearing name for him was King Lemuel, and the utterance which his mother taught him is found in the Proverbs thirty-one Woman.

Lemuel means devoted to God. So is this group of paintings with words from the King and defined in the heart of the artist, Betty Slade

He concludes his proverbs with the portrait of the Proverbs thirty-one Woman. He recognizes the attributes of a godly woman; her beauty can not be compared but excels beyond the many daughters who have done well, and her husband and her children will call her blessed.

Windmill in the Desert

I, Wisdom will give your lips understanding, but a rod will be for the back of the fool. I will store up knowledge for you and your wealth will be a strong city.

Gallery Tour: A windmill in the desert. This is considered a sky painting even though it is a little more than half of the painting. The sky is the dominating feature. This one has been painted with a palette knife on canvas that has been glued to a masonite board.

Re-Stringing Pearls of Wisdom, My Son Wisdom comes from within, it comes from the heart and shows on the lips, just as the windmill pulls the water up from the ground. The wind blows upon the blades and turns the windmill, but the water is hidden under the ground.

A fool, no matter if a rod is taken to his back, he will remain a fool. There is no wisdom that comes from his heart. Wisdom is a heart condition. Knowledge is a mind condition, but wisdom comes from God and God only looks upon the heart.

Allow the Holy Spirit to blow upon you, as the wind blows upon  the desert, keep your heart pure so that wisdom will be upon your lips.

Words Solomon learned at his Mother's knee
Proverbs 10:13-18 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding, but a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding. Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty. The labor of the righeous leads to life, the wages of the wicked to sin. He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses correction goes astray. Who ever hides hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.
